I spent almost every day last week trying to perfect the art of baking. Well, I haven't perfected it yet, but I'll get there...hopefully. After a failed attempt at a No-Bake Oreo cake, something tells me that I'm jumping ahead too many steps. It was bound to happen, my domestic goddess needs training time. Therefore, we are diving in head first and doing everything from scratch. Through the process, I've learned that grocery stores and kitchens are the most uncomfortable places for me to be alone. Its quite hilarious actually, especially when I'm trying to find all the ingredients in the store. I get so flustered and lost, I end up asking the Publix employee to find everything on my list, while I follow behind like a lost puppy dog. Or when I accidentally read the ingredients wrong and put a teaspoon of baking soda, instead of baking powder...yeah, that happened. I was super disappointed when I realized my two layers of cake weren't rising. Oh yeah! That brings me to my next point - No one ever writes the "what not to do" in the directions for the first timers. It took me 9 hours and 5 cakes later to figure out that I'm not supposed to open the oven door, which was preventing my cakes from rising. So out of nearly 14 tries, I did manage to whip up 1 successful cake though; at least I have that to brag about.
